I rose up in a country in which most of men think that they are better than women. It’s part of their mentality that they must be at least a step forward. The story is totally different with my family. I’ve never felt that any man has the right to think that he is better. Since my first breath, I’ve been treated as my brothers. I’ve never needed to take care of anything related to them. If I did anything that would be because I wanted not because I must do it. What we have received from our parents exactly the same; love, money, advices, choices and everything.
When I moved away to live with my brothers here in the U.S, it was normal to have an agreement. Everyone need to take care of themselves. Being a female didn’t mean that I needed to cook or clean for them.
But do you know what?! here where the difficult equation exists. Sometimes women really feel that they can’t handle with the difficulties. At some points, they just feel that they need to be treated as women. On the other hand, men who believe in equality can’t understand that. They think about why I need to treat you differently.
I don’t know where the problem is?! Is it in the equation itself? or in the way of understanding the equation?!
